Bruff clocked up their first of many miles this weekend in the 2nd match of the UBL 1B division.UCD ran in 7 try’s against ‘Quins in their first game and there would be no doubt that home games are absolute must wins for every team in this competition. Shortly after K.O there was a penalty to Bruff.A collapsed scrum allowed Brian Carroll to slot over the first points. Bruff were soon caught offside and Ucd levelled the scoring 3-3.Try by Barry Daly UCD was unconverted Bruff 3-8 UCD.Penalty for not releasing and a kick by Thornton put Bruff 3-11 UCD. The home team gave away penalty’s in their scrum but Bruff could not capitalise.Try disallowed for UCD for holding at lineout. Penalty on halfway to Bruff kicked for lineout. Bruff finding it hard to put pressure on the Leinster side and tempers flared with Maurice o’ Connell and Emmett McMahon both getting yellows for an off the ball incident. Both sides down to 14. Halftime score Bruff 3-11 UCD.A UCD try by Alex Kelly, unconverted, was the start of a very harsh second half for Bruff. A Lovely individual dancing try by Sam Coughlin-Murray, converted Thornton put UCD up 20 points and another try for sub Jordan Coughlan between posts again converted by Thornton left it looking very one sided. A Try in corner for Brendan Deedy and Conversion by Brian Carroll showed Bruff’s fighting spirit in a match that was now well past them. A return second try for Jordan, unconverted, and a try by mark mcgroarty converted by niall earls finished the game. 10-42.
Making a welcome return after an absence due to travel to northern parts, an attempt at building (amongst other things) in Canada, a recent stint as a political manipulator,
We welcome back with open arms:
