Bruff RFC launched the 11th Bull N Booze in Conjunction with Bruff RFC and former Lions, international and Munster Prop John “Bull” Hayes with the exciting news that this year the IRFU Tag Rugby squad are coming on board to help run the competition.

Bruff President Nicholas Cooke expressed his delight with the new association with IRFU Tag Rugby and with IRFU Tag Rugby Sponsors Volkswagen, through dealers Frank Hogan coming on board for the event.

Munster Branch Delegate Richard Leonard added ”I’m really looking forward to this year’s event. This is year 11 and we are kicking things up a notch or two to celebrate the last ten successful years. We have some exciting new things lined up for the evening after the rugby, a great band, and DJ of course until the early hours. We have the usual great tag rugby with our target of forty teams, Early booking numbers are fantastic so far. This season things are taking a new format with the IRFU on board for the event. Early camping bookings are already coming in as well, We have the usual breakfast on Sunday for the Campers, The campgrounds are of course free again to Players if booked in advance, and are open from Friday evening with a special event lined up this year to kick things off on the Friday night.  The idea of this unique weekend of the Tag Rugby Calendar has always been to keep it friendly and promote the social side of Tag for everyone.”

“The competition format lends itself to matching up teams to their ability, so no matter whether you are highly skilled veteran tag players or are just outright beginners, we can promise that you will be matched up with teams that match your ability and ensure the most enjoyable day out. We can guarantee at least 5 games of tag with a great chance of getting in amongst the prizes no matter what your skill levels are. Once that is out of the way, we can promise a fantastic night out, make sure to sign up early for your chance to play Tag in the Bull’s Field”

You can book online for the event on the IRFU tag rugby site HERE: and then you can select Bull N Booze as a venue:

We’ll be in touch with you after booking to find out whether you are signing in for the free camping on site and dinners, breakfasts etc.

Bruff RFC Primary Schools Touch Rugby Blitz Day

On Thursday 16th June, Bruff RFC had their annual primary schools end of season Blitz Day. Schools participating were: St.Patrick’s NS Bruree, Scoil Dean Cussen Bruff and Cloverfield NS.

The day consisted of a boys blitz and a girls blitz in turn trying to promote boys rugby at Bruff RFC but also to increase girls playing numbers at mini rugby, Under 13 and Under 15 level.
The game of Touch Rugby promotes the evasive and running skills of rugby without the tackle therefore promoting running rugby and increased handling skills. Each boys and girls blitz displayed great running rugby with great handling, passing and tries scored. Each of the 3 schools recieved 3 Play Rugby packs an initative of the IRFU in which schools themselves promote the game of touch and tag rugby in the form of Lepreachan rugby with non contested scrums and lineouts in their PE time.
A thank you to the 3 primary schools on the day and the other 8 Primary Schools in which Bruff RFC Schools Rugby coach, Ed Hennessy and CCRO Eoin Cahill attended throughout the 2015/16 season.
Also a thank you to girls Underage coach at Bruff RFC, Joe Kelly who at the last minute helped referee games and Development Officer at Munster Rugby Euan Gee for refereeing and Bruff RFC for the use of facilities on the day.
