A spate of injuries over the last number of weeks, combined with a dominant performance by Malahide RFC, proved too much for Bruff on Saturday afternoon, as the County Limerick side lost 21-0 to their hosts in Dublin.
Bruff started brightly enough, spending the first 10 minutes of the game inside the Malahide 22 metre line but the Limerick men failed to turn the pressure into points on the scoreboard. At the end of the first quarter, Malahide exerted some pressure of their own and after a series of pick and drives towards the Bruff line, managed to squeeze over from short range, right next to the posts, making for an easy conversion.
Much of the rest of the half was spent in the Bruff half, with the visitors putting in a strong defensive performance to keep out the Malahide attack. Unfortunately, the pressure proved too much in the second half, with the Dublin side getting across the Bruff line in the third and fourth quarter.
