On Saturday last we entertained Sunday’s well in Kilballyowen. With a 10 team division a few losses can see you tumble down the table and likewise a few wins can catapult you into a top four position. So every win is precious as every point is. The first half was very even with both sides not creating too many chances and with defenses on top, but before halftime the Well went in front with a number of drives and with bruff having a couple of players in the bin same them take a halftime lead 7-0. The curse of injuries continued in the 2nd half when we lost our 6 Pa Maher with a serious leg injury Pa although still very young in years is developing into a real talent and everyone in the Club wishes him a speedy recovery, while this was a huge setback for the lads they managed to rally and were rewarded with an excellent try after a scrum from the middle of the field saw us move the ball wide with Graham Whelan taking a smashing pass from Jack o Grady went down on the outside to get in for a cracking try Kevin added the extras and the sides were level. Sunday’s well went back in front with a 3 pointer to leave it 10-7 with the game getting near the end we found ourselves with a pen in front of their posts, we took a tap penalty Johnny took it the line and Jack Fitzgerald crashing over, Kevin added the extras to make it 14-10 with time nearly up. The last few minutes were heart in the mouth stuff with the Well pounding our line, credit to our defense who managed to hold out for a valuable win. And while they were a number of yellow cards it was hard fought and sporting. Next Saturday sees us travel to Clonmel for our second last game before the Christmas break.
