Bruff 29 Cashel/Thurles 24
On a sunny Sunday afternoon in Kilballyowen, Bruff under 18.5 took on Cashel /Thurles. Conditions were ideal for running rugby and that is what Bruff did. Running some great ball from the first kick-off. After a series of great impact balls orchestrated through Bruff out half Noah Patterson they then ran the ball wide through the backs hands until Hugh Clogan was tackled in to touch for a Bruff gain of 40m meters. Following a series of plays involving backs and forwards Bruff got their first score of the game with a try by Oisin Feeley. For the next 15 minutes Bruff plated all the rugby, gaining excellent possession out of touch and powering forward in the scrum with the ball going wide Ethen Cumes broke through the cover and sprinted away for a try in the corner. Cashel in fairness to them came back to score their own try with a piece of individual brilliance by their center.
Bruff were immediately back up the field and scored a try under the posts which the ref deemed held up. Following this Conor Dowling scored a penalty. Bruff finishing the half 15 points to 5 ahead.
The first 10 minutes of the second half followed the pattern of the first half. Bruff were back on the attach again. Bruff scored another try 15 minutes in through Noah Patterson bringing the score to 22 5 in Bruff’s favor. Bruff at this stage made whole sale changes changing four of the pack and two in the backs. The changes in personal, changed the dynamic of the team and they were not as coordinated as before. Cashel/Thurles scored two tries in quick succession brining the game back in to the melting pot at 22 19. This Bruff team asserted themselves once more with Conor Dowling scoring a great try after some super inter play between backs and forwards that covered the full length of the field bringing the score to 29 19. In the last 7 minutes Bruff had a man yellow carded, with the last play of the game Cashel/Thurles scored in the corner. Final score Bruff 29 Cashel/Thurles 24.
Two wins in a row for Bruff Under 18.5 and a team improving with every game.
