Bruff played their way into the final of the McInerney Cup at Shannon when they beat St Senans 12 – 19. Tries from Moss O’Donnell, Barry Laffan and Denis Kennedy and 2 conversion from Richard McAullife secured their place in the final.

Last Round of gleeson league
The 3rd’s went into the weekend with a slim chance of making the knock out stages of the Gleeson league, Needing a win and hoping for two other games to go their way.
Unfortunately this didn’t pan out but thankfully they did get the win beating Old Crescent 38-7 at home in Kilballyowen.
Bruff opened the scoring early in the first half and raced into a 17-0 lead with trys from Alan Kilcoyne, Mossie O Donnell and a superb individual try from Charlie Fitzgerald, Ritchie McAuliffe adding a Conversion. Crescent hit back to make it 17-7 before John O Sullivan used his pace scoring a try from inside the Bruff half to leave the score 24-7 at half time.
Crescent were on the attack from early on in the second half but could not break down the Bruff defence. Alan Kilcoyne added his second try midway through the second half with Mike McCarthy scoring a sixth Bruff try before the final whistle. Ritchie McAuliffe kicked 4 conversions in total bringing his total to 55 points so far for the season.
Saturday’s game was the last game of the league. The Semi-final of the McInerney cup is up next for the lads with an away Trip to St. Senans in Shannon next Saturday.

Well done to the Junior 2XV who beat Richmond 11-9 at Canal Bank on Saturday last.
The J2 team collected the McInerney Cup for the 5th time in Bruff’s history with a hard fought 11-9 victory over Richmond on Saturday afternoon at Canal Bank.
Richmond had the better of the first half and lead 6-3 at half time with 2 penalties from Ross O Neill. Ritchie McAuliffe kicked the only Bruff score of the opening half. Richmond added another penalty 15 minutes into the second half. This was to be Richmond’s last score of the game. With 20 minutes remaining in the game Bruff began to take control and added two scores to take the lead, a try in the corner from Marcus Mulvihil and a long range penalty from Ritchie McAuliffe which proved to be the winner. Richmond did miss 3 penalties in the last 10 minutes but Bruff showed massive intensity in defence to deny Richmond any try scoring opportunity.
John Hayes now joins Richard Leonard, John Dunworth(2) and Darren Sheehan on the list of winning Bruff captains for this competition.
