The senior first XV kicked off the new season with a close Charity Cup defeat to Garryowen in Kilballyowen this afternoon, but there were plenty of positives to take from the game for Bruff. Declan Bannon did all the scoring for Bruff, scoring four penalties, a conversion and a length of the field intercept try. Bruff led for large patches of the game and there was a huge improvement from the warm-up game against Nenagh two week’s ago.
The Bruff team lined out as follows:
1. Davy Horan (c) 2. Johnny Clery 3. Stephen Foster 4. Michael Cooke 5. Ger O’Connell 6. Ollie White 7. Andrew White 8. Danny Keogh 9. Tony Cahill 10. Brian Cahill 11. Shane Doona 12. Darragh Mulcahy 13. Declan Bannon 14. Cian Tierney 15. Davy Grady
Subs – 16. Michael Lynch 17. Ray Roche 18. Colum O’Sullivan 19. Pat Lynch 20. Mikey 21. Gary Leonard 22. Mark Cosgrove
