Bruff went into todays game in a confident mood after 2 recent wins in the North Munster Senior Seconds League. Garryowen were first on the scoreboard with a try in the 10th minute. Bruff then suffered a major setback with Leo McGrath going off with a serious hand injury. Two well taken penalties by Richie McAuliffe secured the lead for Bruff. However Garryowen struck back with an intercept try which they converted to leave them 12 points to 6 in front at half time.
However Bruff came out in the second half in a determined mood and took the game to Garryowen and after a lot of great work by the pack Mike Carroll scored a well deserved try. Bruff continued to pressurise Garryowen and were awarded another penalty which Richie converted. With the score now 14 to 12 in favour of Bruff it looked like another victory in favour of the home side, but Garryowen were awarded a penalty just outside our 22 with 3 minutes remaining, which they converted. Time ran out on Bruff and the players left the field knowing that this was one game that could have been won.
