There they go……..

It was a cold and miserable day, the gods had determined that the snow would come down. Our  intrepid warriors came together at the meeting place before the long peregrination northwards. They stashed the equipment in the wagons, said farewell to their loved ones and mounted their trusty steeds. It was going to be tough, the weather was not conducive to their usual tactics of warfare and they would have to adapt. The last attempt to mount an effective attack finished in complete disarray, the weather in the northern regions conspiring to prevent the assault and it looked like this could be more of the same. The intelligence (If you could call it that) led them to believe that the attack was still on by the time they left their home village, and all they could do was put their trust in the gods of war.

This time weather or no weather they would fight the good fight, down to the last man, they may be a raggle taggle bunch of soldiers but one savage bloodless night together prior the commencement of battle will iron out any kinks and ensure the traditional cameraderie and pre-battle bonding prior to the descent of the fogs of war. They must learn to come together and to trust the men standing next to them, they cannot come home empty handed.

Kick off tomorrow during the day sometime…I’ll let ye know how they get on as soon as I know.

Just a collection of some facts:

Tomorrow Bruff attempt to win their 10th game in a row in Division three of the AIL.

Bruff Currently have twenty two points (Not 24) scored against them in 9 AIL games. This must be some kind of a record. I’ll have to get someone to check this.

Bruff’s line has been crossed only twice to date this year in the AIL.

Bruff currently have had only four penalties and one conversion scored against them in 9 AIL games.

They currently lead Division three by Four points against their nearest rivals Instonians.

This is their third trip to Monastery Field in the AIL in four years. They have played them at home once.

Just to let you know what’s at stake tomorrow in Clifden. Have a good one guys, I can’t make it there to shout ye on or take the photos.

Bruff 31, Midleton 0

Well done to all involved today, five tries, three conversions one straight red and a yellow.

Bit of a mixum gatherum kinda game today, we were consistently on top, dominating the scrum completely, attacking very well and of course (Yeah I know, it’s getting monotonous now) that famous awesome defence. We waffled (About the only nice word I can use) completely in the second half, mixing it in the middle when we should have been kicking ball down the field and pinning Midleton back. To be straight we should have put more on them but that’s semantics and me being a little bit puritan if anything.

Classic moment: The one that will go down in history is when the Midleton pack ran a penalty (One of fourteen against us again today by the way), Bruff put in the tackle, stole the ball and I think I counted 11 passes in seven seconds, ending up in the corner with braq touching down. It was actually awesome (and a little scary if you were from Midleton) to watch.

9 out of 9 for the first XV, and top place confirmed again on the table tonight.
