There was only one youth rugby fixture this weekend in the Under 15 league where the Bruff U15′ took on a combination of Richmond/UL Boh’s which was played in Annacotty. A very good team performance by the U15’s who came from behind and played some very good rugby and led 5-10 at half time, the try was scored by Tom Riordan and converted by Conor Hanley. A penalty was also converted by Hanley just before half time for a penalty infringement at the breakdown.
In the second half good pressure from Bruff had them in control for long periods of the game which frustrated the opposition who made numerous changes but got no change out of the Bruff lads. Through the pressure being applied by Bruff the second try eventually came from John O’ Reilly and again was converted by Conor Hanley Bruff led 17-5 with quarter of an hour to go. Some great tackling by Conor Twomey and Ciaran Tangney in the midfield area contually frustrated the opposition and tempers spilled over but brought under control by the ref. As the game entered the final 5 minutes more great tackling by Darragh O Keeffe on the Bruff wing kept the opposition at bay. With two minutes left on the clock Richmond/Bohs got a consolation try which went unconverted. Well done to all the lads who were led from the front to victory by their captain Frank Maher.
